Postdoctoral Research Associates are employees of the university, who are eligible for a full range of benefits. Postdoctoral Fellowships are a special category of postdocs who bring their own funding to the university or who are funded through NIH training grants.
Opportunities for Postdoctoral Fellowships are available primarily through training programs in the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies and the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research. According to the Handbook of Academic Administration, Chapter 4, postdoc candidates seeking appointments must meet the following criteria:
- Must be available for at least a 12 month appointment
- Hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
- Have fewer than 5 years postdoc experience
Candidates must be paid through Brown University or external funding.
